In mythological imagery, sisterhood is often symbolized as a long umbilical cord connecting to Mother Earth, representing unity and shared rituals. Chiara Camoni’s Sisters embody this concept through female figures that are human, animal, or semi-divine, evoking a deep connection to Nature and ancestral heritage. These figures, involving both adults and children, invite intimate bonds between living beings and the natural world. They express the cycle of existence—embracing life and death, good and evil—through their materials. Their creation is a ritual of awareness that links craft with the origins of the world. In Bangkok Art Biennale 2024, these twin Sisters face each other, forming a portal or passage that symbolizes connection and transition. Chiara Camoni's practice includes drawing, vegetal prints, video, and ceramics, often involving collaboration with friends and family. She founded Il Centro di Sperimenatzione group. Recent solo shows include Chiamare a raduno. Sorelle. Falene e fiammelle. Ossa di leonesse, pietre e serpentesse (Hangar Bicocca, Milan, 2024); Whispers, world above, world below, (A Tail of A Tub, Rotterdam, 2023); HIC SUNT DRACONES with Atelier dell’Errore, (GAM, Torino, 2022); LA DISTRUZIONE BELLA (SpazioA, Pistoia, 2022); La Meraviglia, (CEAAC – Centre Européen d’Actions Artistiques Contemporaines, Strasbourg, 2021); Deux Soeurs, (CAPC, musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux, Bordeaux, 2021).
